Any person who violates the requirements to carry PFDs for each person onboard the vessel is subject to a fine of $48. A $73 fine may be applied for any violations to water skiing and personal watercraft PFD requirements. Any person who violates the requirements for PFDs onboard, PFD use while on a personal watercraft or while being towed, or the child PFD requirement is subject to an infraction. The state parks and recreation commission is responsible for inspection and approval of PFD requirements.
